Tours

Think of travelling way away from your normal situation where the email and the cobwebs can't bother you but where you can see new sights and be truly refreshed. Take a trip and some workshops at the same time. Here are a couple of destinations to consider...

Morroco

Writing tours

Here are some photos to show you a little of what you missed. This woman was winding silk thread at Bhalil. We later chatted (sign language) to women handmaking silk buttons with it.

While Bhalil was an old and small village, the medina at Fes is large and very complex. Inside is a modern and ancient metropolis. This is taken from the second floor of a 14th century medrassa - from the cell of a long gone student (although residents were still there). It took you back to that time and you began to see that the austerity of intellectual life was very important. It was right in the medina - but calm. A place of sanctuary and thought.

Egypt and/or Jordan

An accompanied tour with licensed Egyptologist and Jordanian guides. Informative, relaxing, stunning. Egypt gives you a new definition of 'old'. It changes your perspective in so many ways. Sailing down the Nile on a ship (every cabin looks out onto the river) is one part of the tour which always pleases. You see people tilling their fields as they did millennia ago and then the latest technology. And what's in Jordan? Petra of course! And so much more. People are always surprised at Jordan - you'll love it.

Writing tours This view of the pyramids at Giza in Egypt is taken from just near the solar boat. Even the pyramids, which we've read about and seen on tv, are full of surprises when you get there. There's a saying in Egypt 'People are afraid of time, and time is afraid of the pyramids.' Another way of seeing.
